About

Badminton itself is a great sport and Blackpool Junior Badminton Club provides a safe and friendly environment for young players to learn and develop the sport and its ancillary attributes: increasing fitness and flexibility; developing confidence, fair play and team awareness; making friends and enjoying taking part in the sport.

The club meets on Saturday mornings in school term time between 9.30 and 11.30 at Blackpool Sports Centre. From time to time, the halls will be unavailable due to large scale prestigious events being staged at the venue; such changes to the schedule will be advised verbally in advance to your junior and e-mailed to you.

The club is run by volunteers, most of whom are DBS cleared and qualified to Badminton England (the National Governing Body) standards. The Head Coach is Dave Greer.

To meet expenses, there are 2 costs to players (parents/guardians): a session fee of £5 payable at each session attended plus an annual registration fee of £10 per player payable on the second attendance. These costs are interlinked and may both increase and/or decrease in order to arrive at the fairest outlay to participants. New players have their first session free.

Sessions have a mix of activity with warm-up, stretches and exercises, practice, instruction and game play. The aim is to improve everyone’s standard of play.

Progression is at the individual’s pace by performance with opportunities for juniors to advance to local senior clubs and/or representative junior county squads.

We hope your junior will give badminton a try and find out for themselves why we.. Play it! Love it! Live it!
